Wroughton Road, Battersea

2006 & 2010

In 2006 we were approached to design a very small kitchen extension to this end of terrace Victorian house in Battersea. The clients had a limited budget and wanted to build a dining room space, filling in the side return. We created a very simple modern addition to the house with a curved aluminium edge profile to a floating roof. The project was much admired and was shortlisted for the Architects Journal Small Project Award in 2007.

In 2010 our clients got back in touch, this time with the intention of extending their home at basement and loft level. They were keen that new additions should in some way relate to the original dining room extension. We proceeded to design a loft conversion that compliments and balances the addition below. This carefully considered approach was appreciated by the planners and permission was quickly granted for the new works.
