Lex Walsall

This was a competition entry for a mixed use development for Urban Splash. The upper levels enclosed office space and a hotel with a roof top restaurant. Lower down there is a cinema, theatre and retail spaces. A mid level public garden forms the main circulation hub for the commercial spaces above. The site forms terminates a vista that runs to the Walsall Art Gallery, completing a large canal side development.

The sculptural form of the buildings was inspired by the work of Henry Moore. The complex form was initially sculpted in plasticine before it was transposed into a complex computer model. The curved forms help reduce the overall mass of the development.
